GMC Hummer EV: What We Know

GMC Hummer EV: What We Know

The name Hummer is a true legend. A legend that has long been associated with heavy gasoline consumption. Today you'll find the cleanest Hummer in history, the GMC Hummer EV.

The GMC Hummer EV Is a True Technological Find

Even if physically, it incorporates some of the known elements of the Hummer, it also displays unique peculiarities. Its six-hole grille, the same as the previous generation, is fully backlit. It also has a bright display that lets you see the battery charge level at a glance.

Far from the traditional SUV, however, the new all-electric Hummer looks more like a pickup truck. It has a cargo box like its rivals. However, it has characteristics unique to the category.

Additionally, it is possible to equip the Hummer EV with the Infinity roof. In other words, a roof with removable panels that allow you to feel the wind on your face, much like a Jeep.

We Rely Heavily on Its Off-Road Capabilities

Mounted on 35-inch wheels, the large SUV is fitted with an all-terrain tire specially designed for it. It also has raised suspensions and pneumatics. In the event of difficulty, the vehicle can then increase its ground clearance by 15 centimetres, making it easier to pass through rougher areas.

This new Hummer also has four directional wheels. In other words, all four wheels are steerable to allow for a smaller turning radius. It also facilitates handling at high speeds. But this system allowed GM to create the first vehicle that uses the “crab walk”.

Essentially, like crabs in the sand, the new Hummer will be able to move sideways. It will thus be able to bypass obstacles in a much tighter radius. And these are just a few of its features.

Premium-Oriented Interior

Everything has been designed for the comfort of the occupants. A top-of-the-range Bose sound system has even been added for the more refined versions. And to ensure that the ride is safe, a large screen has been installed in the centre of the on-board console. In particular, it will display one of the 18 camera views available, including two cameras housed under the truck.

Obviously, it is also the electric drive that sets this vehicle apart. It receives an electric motor of 1,000 horsepower and developing 11,500 pounds/foot of torque. Powered by GM's new Ultium batteries, it can travel up to 560 kilometres on a single charge. Built on an 800-volt architecture, it will recover up to 160 kilometres in 10 minutes on a 350 kW charging station.

The downside is that the Canadian price is not yet known. The first deliveries in the country are scheduled for fall 2022 to ALBI Chevrolet GMC Buick Laval. Still, admit that it is spectacular!
